Based in Copenhagen with her partner and two kids, US comedian, writer and improviser Abby Wambaugh has recently launched herself successfully into the comedy world. Abby made herself known on the UK comedy circuit by becoming a finalist in the 2021 Funny Women Stage Awards, just 10 months after performing stand up for the first time. She was chosen as an Autumn 2021 Resident of St. Nells Humor Writing Residency (run by New Yorker cartoonist and comedian Emily Flake), and won the 2020 Nordvest Improv Festival Maestro competition.
In 2022 Abby appeared at the Paddy Power Comedy Festival at Iveagh Gardens, opened for Sofie Hagen’s Denmark tour dates, been a guest on Comedians Vs. The News and One Bad Mother, and was long listed for the 2022 BBC New Comedy Awards. She regularly hosts and performs in comedy shows in Copenhagen and the UK.
Abby has a BA in Humour and Social Change. Her comedy explores gender, parenting, the parts of speech, the personalities of furniture, hummus, loss and includes repeating verbatim a lot of things her mom has said.
“Enjoyably dry sense of humour, reminiscent of Hannah Gadsby or Tig Notaro. Tackles what could be a thorny, complex subject with grace, underplayed charm and some great jokes.” (Steve Bennett, Chortle)
