Simon Amstell: What Is This?
This show will be filmed for future broadcast.
Simon Amstell will be performing What is This? for the final time, exclusively at EartH. These will be the only stand up shows Simon will be performing this year in the UK.
Combining the most personal elements of ‘What is This?’ and a little of Simon’s previous show ‘To be Free’, the two performances will be filmed for release at a later date.
With intense vulnerability and honesty, Amstell promises a deeply revealing and funny exploration of beauty, intimacy, freedom, sex and love.
“Simon Amstell has a gift for taking a social norm and gently mocking it until it seems utterly ridiculous. Highly literate… an endearing mixture of offhanded candour and sharp wit. Such ease and understatement makes him very good company” – The New York Times
“Strikes a beautiful balance between perky and pained, anxious and ironic” **** The Guardian
“Sharply penetrating gags about love and happiness” **** iNews
“He finds comedy gold by analysing his existential angst” **** The London Evening Standard
“An uplifting, effortlessly entertaining hour” **** The Times
Simon’s feature film Benjamin premiered at the London Film Festival in 2018 and was recently released in cinemas to huge critical acclaim. Simon’s first feature length film Carnage aired on BBC iPlayer in May 2017 and is still available to watch.
Simon Amstell has won two British Comedy Awards, an RTS Award, a Broadcast Award, a Chortle Award and has been nominated for a BAFTA.
